:2005 animated process:

behind the scenes:// 10.6MB .mov
sound design:// Four Tet - Everything Is Alright
production equipment:// Micron Pigma (0.3) / red crayon / Hunts Mapping Point #102 / Photoshop CS2 / Painter IX / Premiere 6.5
1:// In a pocket (3.5"X5") sketchpad, dozens of images are sketched out (hence the alternate image) with decision made to introduce a "wise-man" character to help further this annual journey series.
2:// Forgetting my sketchpad and sitting in some restaurant I saw they had those old kids crayons & activity placemats and decided I'd better get cracking on the image.
3:// Took the crayon sketch and redrew it in Photoshop or Painter to make a nice smooth black&white image I would transfer onto the final paper.
4:// Transferred the b&w image onto the paper with rough pencils to go over with sweet slick ink. B/W
5:// With a little help from my friend Mike, the coloring and captions were completed in Photoshop.
creator commentary:// The idea coming from the 2004 card was to bring the hero further along his travels to finally encounter a being to interact with (a wise man).

From the initial sketch, the idea of civilzation was carried over for the alternate card.

This was fun to do but I would like to lessen the file size and increase the image resolution.  Perhaps shockwave/flash would make this sort of interaction easier?  The alternate 2005 card might deserve an explanation and the same treatment.
